Menhirs in Andalucia

The landscape around the menhir
Big fallen granitic menhir, in the area of Las Peñas (Aroche). It keeps strong similarities with the isolated big menhirs of Central and Northern Alentejo. 4, 30 m long. Close to an interesting granitic landscape, where the raw material probably came from. Like the most cases in Central Alentejo, the menhir was standing on a different geological context: schistose bed-rock.
Early Neolithic settlements must be there, waiting to be discovered (if the similarities with Evora actually go beyond typology).
